Chillin, Loving My House

August 19, 2024

Currently Listening To: My Radio Show!

Currently Feeling: Nostalgic (again)

Hai babes <3

I meant to publish this little blog on Friday night, but then I got SO blasted and just wanted to keep playing Disco Elysium (I am now on the step of the main quest to find Ruby, to give you a sense of how far through the game I am) so I am instead publishing it today! Whoopsie lol. To anyone who is still celebrating Blaugust, congrats for making this far!

I've been thinking about how few photos I have of my room, now of course that 70% of my stuff is at my new place and it's literally my bed and my desk are pretty much all that's left. So I went through my photos and pulled a short selection of photos where my house is more centered in the background than it usually is.

This is probably the best photo of my bedroom that exists:

A photo of a desk set up, in front of a tapestry with the moon on it, surrounded by RBG white lights.

And my bed (after I had just washed the sheets lol):

A full bed with grey sheets, a larvitar plushie and two scalemate plushies.

I love my bed so much. I'll be very sad that it's going into storage, because the room I am moving into is already furnished. C'est la vie, I'll be sleeping in her again in in 4 mere months, but I'm still sad.

Here's a photo of me in a jumpsuit my mom got for me, to illustrate how small my room is (literally I had about 4 square feet of space to stand and get dressed in, because my bed, dresser and desk were positioned just so):

A photo of a young person in a green jumpsuit.

And one of my partner sitting on my bed, because this is the only photo I can find that vaguely shows the shelf I had set up at the foot of my bed:

A photo of a person sitting on a bed hugging a larvitar plushie.

A few photos of the rest of the house, and our backyard. Our living room was sort of the swirling heart of our house. My roommate and I run a horror movie club, which if you had asked me 10 years ago if I ever thought I would love the horror genre, it would have been a resounding NO, but I have since come waaaaaay around and it is one of my favorite genres :)

A group of people in halloween costumes sitting on couches in a living room. Two young adults in going out outfits posing in front of a shelf and tv. Three people sitting in a living room with two couches.

One of my favorite photos taken in our living room, during a particularly intense moment in Dungeons and Dragons combat, the campaign that was the subject of my previous blog.

Three young adults pointing at a DnD map.

And, one of my most favorite parts of our house, our wonderful wonderful backyard. This was the site of...a lot of shennaniganery lmao, but here it is dreary in the middle of winter:

A lightly snow-dusted city backyard with a japanese maple.

And finally, a photo of my fishies in our sunroom, because I love them. The calico fancy goldfish, Myrtle, has since passed away, but her GF, the big orange gal named Ada, is still here!

Two goldfish, one large orange and one calico fancy.

So that's pretty much it! The house is mostly empty now, but we've still got a lot of work to go before the end of August. I'm sweating just thinking about it (the move has been so sweaty so far). Other fun stuff on my mind this week that I may write more about once I have a smidgen more time -- I've been listening to a lot of Sleater Kinney again, one of my favorite bands. I always kind of forget how much I love them until I start listening again, even though Janet Weiss isn't in the band anymore :,( My favorite album is All Hands on the Bad One, but I also love One Beat and No Cities to Love. Everything between All Hands and Cities to Love is peak SK imho. I've also been deep in Disco Elysium, and once I finish that game I'd like to do a deep dive of my playthrough, because it's been an absolute blast. I am very picky with my video games, so to have one take me by the reigns so hard is a great feeling.

That's all for now folks! XOXO -- Storm <3
